How are there any undecided voters left?

I think part of it is the worry that if a politician switched positions before, he can do so again in the future. And again. Therefore you can’t be sure he’ll actually deliver what he promises, because what if he promises something during the election campaign, but then, once elected, has a change of heart and decides not to?

The problem is that Biden is OLD. I doubt he’ll even make it to 2024. Of course, Trump’s not much younger.

He is about the same age as trump and sanders. Do you thing trump will make it to 2024?

So, no he is not “OLD”.

And so, maybe he doesnt make to a second term- that gives Mayor Pete a shot.

Let me make this perfectly clear- if trump wins another term, Mayor Pete has no shot at getting nominated. If you like him, support Joe, Biden will likely give him some nice job where Pete can run in a later term.

I’m curious: why did you consider supporting Buttigieg?

I guess where I’m going with this is, they’re both from the same party. They will have very similar ideas and platforms. With a few notable exceptions, voting for the presidential candidate is really a matter of voting for a party’s general approach to government; it’s not so much about the individual personalities themselves.

Trump is an exception to what I write above because he is so remarkably dishonest and corrupt. He doesn’t tell merely small lies. He doesn’t conceal or shade truths, which is something almost all politicians will do from time to time; he lies about things that he is recorded saying to millions of people days or even minutes before. He is a pathological liar who is destroying our political system with each passing day he is in office.

If you want me to acknowledge that Biden has flaws, I’ll definitely go along and agree with that. He wasn’t my ideal of a candidate either, but there is no reason to even think about not voting for Biden.

So in that case, you’re really voting for Harris. Isn’t she preferable to Trump?

Absolutely. And, no, I don’t think Trump can make it to 2024 either – at least, not without his mind impaired to a point not even the Cabinet can ignore.

In that event – at least Pence could give America something we need right now – a BORING administration. One for which nobody has any deeply emotional praise or blame, and no very surprising news ever comes out of the WH. Like Eisenhower’s.

If you think that, you are misjudging the current political atmosphere of the country. Mr. “Gays can be cured through prayer” is as anti-abortion as Trump - perhaps moreso because it’s genuine. Supreme Court Justice appointments will stir up contention no matter who is in the White House.

Though he is less likely to have rumors about him of a pee-pee tape or hush payments to porn stars.

The other point along these lines really got going back in about the 1970s. And that is a candidate telling different stories to different audiences on different days.

While talking to the Chamber of Commerce luncheon he’s all for free trade and outsourcing. Commerce is Good!!. Later that afternoon at a rally down at the Union HQ he’s telling the workers he’s all for labor protections and no outsourcing. Protect the Worker!!

Before the era where literally every speech was recorded and reported to a wide audience, the shading / tweaking of platforms for audiences went largely unnoticed. Not so much in the last 50 years, and especially not today.

That’s all very different from some candidate being taken to task now for having changed views from 10 or 20 years ago.

Although once (much of) the public has decided that facts and consistency are irrelevant, then anything goes on any timescale.
