# How are they getting around my pop-up blocker?

I have IE7 and lately, just once in a while, I get a pop-up ad. IE blocks nearly all of them, but how do these other ones get through?

Don’t know about IE’s popup blocker system, but with other browsers the biggest hole is via Flash. (Flash bypasses a lot of security systems including cookie management.) I would look thru the source of the starting page for the filename of the popped up page, that is the best first step for finding out what’s going on.

I have firefox with my pop up blocker on, ad blocker on and, no script on (does not allow javascript or flash) and i STILL get a popup every now and then…

Do you have an example we could look at? Maybe we could decode it
