Got an email from my guitar teacher of four years. He comes to the house every week, but has decided that he needs to protect his students from the disease, especially geezers like me. He’s willing to do them by Skype, but I’m betting that his little business is going to take a big hit before this is over. The wife is now making noises about canceling our trip to Taos, whether Habitat cancels the project or not. Probably a good idea, but dang. ---

Michigan is shutting down all bars,restaurants , casinos etc for 2 weeks starting in a couple hours. It feels so weird to have gotten to this point this quickly. ETA To clarify, only sit down is being shut down. Delivery and Pick up are still going to be open, not that I expect a lot of people are really using this for info purposes. ---

At least now when I walk I will have almost zero chance of encountering anyone else. I’ve canceled all my other “social” events, so I’m clinging to this one sliver of normalcy. ☹ ---

My sympathies to everyone getting hurt by this. I am ok. Self-quarantined because of symptoms, and now I am finding out there are confirmed cases in my county, which has declared a disaster emergency. I am off this week anyway, but would miss work next week to do a full two weeks. Now I seriously question if there will be a job to go back to. If I get sidelined a month, even two or three, I should be ok. But at some point… My gf dropped off some supplies that I hadn’t thought to get: sudafed, tomato soup, cheddar cheese for grilled sandwiches. Can’t help wondering: Am I even worthy? Tomorrow will be 5 days since I potentially exposed her. If she doesn’t show symptoms then she stays away. If she does, I guess we can blow our noses and take naps together. ---

Last contact with General Humanity was hitting Vons this morning for fill-in supplies. Very picked over, but still got veggies for St. Patrick’s Day boiled dinner. Surprisingly, the lemons and limes they had were quite nice. I have a feeling the liquor cabinet is going to be quite depleted by the time this starts to ease. We might actually have to drink…blended Scotch!!! Oh, the humanity! ---

I used to pay $39/year to fill out a form online and talk to a doctor for five minutes. The law’s the law. ---

I just got back from another walk along the beach (Beaches feel safe – very few people, and a stiff breeze to keep the viruses away).
