# How bad is the DC Cinematic Universe going to implode?

There’s no two ways around it. A film with a budget of $130m needs to be making around $400m worldwide to be looking like a success. Studios only get a cut of the domestic gross and even less in foreign markets, and then there’s marketing costs that need to be recovered. _Watchmen_ was a failure.

And it looks like DC is trying to bring order out of chaos.

Not really chaos, but close enough. They’re placed two men, [Geoff Johns and Jon Berg](http://io9.gizmodo.com/a-major-shake-up-just-changed-the-game-for-dc-films-1777328048) were just placed in overall control of DC films.

Which goal they’ll move towards will be interesting to see.

Mind you, hardly a cinematic masterpiece.
