There’s no two ways around it. A film with a budget of $130m needs to be making around $400m worldwide to be looking like a success. Studios only get a cut of the domestic gross and even less in foreign markets, and then there’s marketing costs that need to be recovered. Watchmen was a failure.
And it looks like DC is trying to bring order out of chaos.
Not really chaos, but close enough. They’re placed two men, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg were just placed in overall control of DC films.
Which goal they’ll move towards will be interesting to see.
And, IMHO, it *didn’t *fail.
Mind you, hardly a cinematic masterpiece.
