Several of my relatives are saddled with “Lust” as a surname. One of them is named “Richard”. He _strenuously_ resists being referred to as Dick. In fact, only legal paper work even has “Richard”. Everything has “Rich”. ---

“Dikshit” means something in Hindi…I know it’s unusual here, but you have to remember that in India, his parents had a different thought process. That being said, I’d go by a nickname or a shortening…“Deep” pronounced with a soft ‘d’ sounds good to me. I wouldn’t change my name just because people butcher it. People have butchered my legal name all my life. Now I only share it with people who I think will respect it and make an effort instead of secretly being annoyed, and everyone else just hears my nickname. ---

He gets called Rich by one of his sisters on occasion, but no one ever calls him Dick. As to the name Hook mentioned previously, I have a step-brother who has been (and could still be for all I know) Captain Hook. He has a nephew who is a vet so he is Dr. Hook.
