Thank you to the Bad Astronomer. Your pages were a desperately needed lifeline tonight. One of our television stations picked up that godawful Mitch Pileggi-narrated “Conspiracy Theory: Did Space Vampires Suck Out Our Brains, Leaving Us Able To Produce Only Dribble Like This Show”. They showed it tonight. I’m what they called an ‘active participant’ when I’m listening to talkback radio or watching a documentary; I respond. In the case of this show, I respond vocally, loudly, with a high degree of animation (the cat, normally used to my carry-on and capable of ignoring me, fled the room within the show’s first ten minutes). Around ten minutes after that, I could feel my brain starting to liquify, like a frog in a blender. I’m not going to rant about the stunning ignorance displayed by this program[sup]1[/sup]. I’m not up to the job. Had I the powers of Scylla, Fenris and Cervaise, I would still need to add a few litres of hydrochloric acid to get close. I just wanted to say that the Bad Astronomy pages were a haven in the storm. Sometime around the accusation that NASA killed Chaffee, Grissom and White plus, quite possibly, sundry other personnel who Knew Too Much, I kicked my television in, jumped on it until it was in tiny little pieces and then meticulously flushed it all down the toilet (it had been irredeemably contaminated) and went to read Phil’s pages. I felt much better after a solid fifteen minutes of debunking. Thank you for a fast dip in the real world. [sup]1[/sup]I will note, however, that’s it’s my personal belief that a) the writers need to take a look adjusting their medication, and b) if Mitch Pileggi is so hard-up for money that he’d take on this turkey of a job, we should pass the hat around for him, otherwise he’ll be selling himself on street corners next. ---

When the bilge came on about the NASA conspiracy a while ago, I was glad I’d read the Pit thread from here first. I know how you feel, **tavalla**. Thank you, all, for keeping those islands of sanity going in the midst of a sea of ignorance. ---

That’s funny-- that website makes _my_ head explode. 'course, I have to read the message board with all the HBs (hoax believers) posting there. Yikes. I was on the radio in Australia just the other day. I am hoping they’ll get streaming audio of it; the interview was taped and I want to hear what listeners were saying. I used to frequent a message board dedicated primarily to movies. I got into a long argument with a bunch of folks who wanted to discuss the moon-landing “hoax.” Their position, summarized: But this is _interesting!_ How _dare_ you try to bring _facts_ into it! What are you, _smart_ or something? I don’t post there any more. Oh, and I wrote a long, angry letter to Fox after this reprehensible tripe initially aired. I got no response. Anyone surprised? ---

**tavalla** is this the same show that last week tried to explain why everything in Washington DC was a sign of the devil Examples: this large pointy monument is 444feet high and 222feet buried underground = 666 feet - Aurgh sign of devil\* The Pentagon - well isn’t it obvious and all those secret sections supposedly working on new technology like the stealth bombers are actually all satanic temples Stupid show made me start throwing stuff at the tv.
