I’m now assuming the polls are all skewed the last month or so. So we have almost no PA data. I foolishly wnet and bought 2 books and some candy to get 35 dollars and free shipping. Now I don’t know if I have time but eat the candy before I have to read the first 30 pages of each of the books. Then pack up all the books I am keeping, throw away half my music as it is on CD and then put it all in a storage locker. And live in Europe for 4 years of Trump.

It likely didn’t. It was just something for people who werent going to vote for her anyway to use. They just didnt like to be called out on their bigotry.

Well, how would that hurt her? they were, as you said- trump voters.

And in context, she was completely right-
_You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? [Laughter/applause]. The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up._

Right.

Here is yet another answer to the thread title question: It looks like young first time male voters wil skew GOP:

[Are Young Men Really Going to Vote for Donald Trump?](https://www.liberalpatriot.com/p/are-young-men-really-going-to-vote)

> [@](#):
>
> In a [poll](https://www.americansurveycenter.org/research/the-politics-of-progress-and-privilege-how-americas-gender-gap-is-reshaping-the-2024-election/) conducted by the Survey Center on American Life this fall, men ages 18 to 24 were far less likely to identify as feminist and liberal than those ages 25 to 29. Cohn’s [recent analysis](https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/18/upshot/polls-trump-harris-young-men.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare) suggests a similar pattern. In swing states that collect voter-registration status, young men are one point more Democratic than Republican. But young men who registered in the last 12 months are registering as a Republican over a Democrat by a margin of six points.

My (optimistic?) theory is that even if young men are in some ways cancelling out the advantage that Kamala gets from young women, there will be FAR greater turnout among young women. Who is voting with more passion and conviction… a girl who doesn’t want to die from being denied an abortion, or a guy who just wants to be edgy more or less for edginess’ sake?

Bernie Sanders just released a video appeal to people who are considering not voting for Harris because of Gaza:

Well I originally saw it on TikTok, where it has the potential to reach the right audience. Then I Googled for a link to post here and saw that CNN had it too, but I’m not sure how many people that would reach if it’s sort-of buried under actual news…

There is reason for hope here. Harris has a big lead amongst women, Trump a similar one amongst men, especially young men. Young men are far less likely to actually cast their vote. Furthermore, this is a group who have not traditionally voted R - and so the Republicans will not have a particularly effective ground game to actually engage with these voters to get them out to the polls.

I also think that Trump has been spending a lot of money on polling (it was reported that he admitted it in that interview with Joe Rogan) because if/when he loses by a larger margin than the polls suggest, he will be able to claim it was stolen.

</div>

There’s also every possibility that some voting suppression measures that GOP state governments have engaged in could backfire on them. Some GOP states have taken steps specifically designed to make it harder for young people to vote – denying university/community college IDs as a valid voter ID, curtailing voter outreach and registration drives at schools and campuses – because they’ve seen young people as Democratic votes. I’d imagine that young women whose bodily autonomy is on the line are more likely to jump through these hoops than young men who just get a laugh out of Trump calling Walz “Tampon Tim.”

Of course, he will use every excuse to say the election was stolen. But what he said to Rogan was that he paid for polls and then the pollsters sat on their asses and made up numbers. And, of course, he would think that because that’s what he would do. He thinks he is getting ripped off but didn’t seem too much bothered by it I guess because game recognizes game (and it’s not his money).

I think its more likely that either the polls he paid for didn’t tell him what he wanted to hear so he dismisses them as fake, or they faked the numbers to make him happy and he figured it out from seeing other polls.

He literally fired all his internal pollsters in 2020. It is certainly possible his current ones are just faking it so they don’t get fired.

I came here to post this, after hearing about it on Bloomberg.

Apparently, Trump outsourced the GOTV effort to Musk, and it’s a disaster. Including hiring of workers who didn’t know they were working on behalf of Trump, workers being transported around in the back of UHauls (surely illegal), and workers being told that if they didn’t meet quotas they’d have to pay for their own hotel rooms and airfare home

Sounds like a winning GOTV strategy.

“Go vote for Trump”

“Why?”

“Fucked if I know. I’m just paid to say this. M’kay bye”
