Yeah, my cats weren’t BAD. One is quite GOOD, the other is just NAUGHTY.

Ah! I have BAD CAT’s uncle!

UNCLE BAD was a sweetheart when I got him from the shelter. UNCLE BAD nuzzled and loved and snuggled and purred, purred, purred. UNCLE BAD has not stopped doing that. UNCLE BAD did, however, start running around like a lunatic when he wasn’t getting enough attention. Enough attention for UNCLE BAD is “all the cuddles all the time, and I will wake you up for more, and also you must never leave.” There is moaning and wailing and gnashing of teeth of UNCLE BAD whenever his precious **Ninja** must leave. It is especially bad when his precious **Ninja** leaves, comes back having forgotten something, and leaves again. UNCLE BAD gets very unhappy.

UNCLE BAD used to knock down cups, too. Precious **Ninja** had a bad habit of leaving half full cups of water next to the computer. UNCLE BAD destroyed three keyboards that way before **Ninja** finally lost her temper and poured the unspilled part of the water cup all over UNCLE BAD. It was the only thing that seemed to have an effect, so I did this three or so times. He has not done it for many years.

That may be partly due to LITTLE BAD. LITTLE BAD was born when a neighbor cat decided to make her kittens in our backyard. I picked LITTLE BAD from the litter when he was weaned so that I could get a companion for UNCLE BAD. LITTLE BAD was the most fearless of his siblings and fit in perfectly with UNCLE BAD. I was afraid UNCLE BAD would eat him, but UNCLE BAD loves him and raised him up to be a mighty hunter, a quiet fellow, and in most respects (LITTLE BAD’s only sin is inappropriate peeing and pooping, apart from that he is ANGEL CAT) not quite as bad as UNCLE BAD, who loathes anything on four legs that is not a boy cat and merely tolerates boy cats who are not LITTLE BAD.

So … it’s been a while. Whatever happened to Bad Cat?

(To all your Bad Cats.)

This is an old thread that was brought to my attention – dunno how I missed it at the time, probably because I was dealing with Bad Cats of my own – I’d like to resurrect it for a potential Threadspotting. But you tell me.

Jenny
(Who has TWO Bad Cats – brother and sister. That were born in the ceiling of the DeKalb County Tax Office and were dropped down a wall and are alternately sweet and homicidally ferocious. They also hate each other and destroy stuff to get to/slap at one another all day long.)

What Ginsberg said in my sig should not apply to kittycats.

> Also there’s a thing called [Feliway](http://www.feliway.com/gb) that you plug in to the wall, and it releases calming cat pheromones - my cat specialist vet swears by it.

A Doper recommended this to me when my cat was all freaking out, and it was very effective. Noticed a difference almost immediately. He’s calmed down since, so we haven’t had to buy more yet, but I really do think this stuff works.

Is BAD CAT an outdoor cat? Maybe he’s stir-crazy.

ETA: Oh, sorry, didn’t realize this was Pet Semetary.

> Would one of those compressed air containers they sell for dusting off your computer work for the OP?

Sorry, I know this was posted a long time ago, but compressed air is very dangerous and you should never use it near or on any animal (or people)

From Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety: [CCOHS: Cleaning with Compressed Air](http://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers/safety_haz/compressed_air.html)

> [@](#):
>
> What are the hazards of using compressed air?
> First, compressed air is extremely forceful. Depending on its pressure, compressed air can dislodge particles. These particles are a danger since they can enter your eyes or abrade skin. The possible damage would depend on the size, weight, shape, composition, and speed of the particles. There have also been reports of hearing damage caused by the pressure of compressed air and by its sound.
>
> Second, compressed air itself is also a serious hazard. On rare occasions, some of the compressed air can enter the blood stream through a break in the skin or through a body opening. An air bubble in the blood stream is known medically as an embolism, a dangerous medical condition in which a blood vessel is blocked, in this case, by an air bubble. An embolism of an artery can cause coma, paralysis or death depending upon its size, duration and location. While air embolisms are usually associated with incorrect diving procedures, they are possible with compressed air due to high pressures. While this seems improbable, the consequences of even a small quantity of air or other gas in the blood can quickly be fatal.
>
> In addition, using air to clean forces the dirt and dust particles into the air, making these contaminants airborne and creating a respiratory hazard.
>
> Unfortunately, horseplay has been a cause of some serious workplace accidents caused by individuals not aware of the hazards of compressed air, or proper work procedures.

Actually I would never have sprayed this directly at my cat. What I do is, when the cat jumps up on my desk, I reach for it. The cat leaves.

If the cat does not leave, then I find something that needs dusting. On my desk, there is always something that can use it. Printer, scanner, the little thingie that sits behind the computer and gets me on the internet. I do not spray the cat, I spray the thing that needs dusting. The cat leaves.

And next time, I’ll only have to reach for it again.
