# How can I make my toilet flush more efficiently?

My toilet seems to leave a lot of debris, sometimes I must flush 2 or even 3 times. This seems like it isn’t working correctly. Is there a way to make it flush better?

Does it use a lot of water, or just seem like it only puts a tiny bit of water down through the bowl each time? You might want to adjust your float mechanism so more water flows through.

If it’s a conventional design, the float ball is on a metal arm. I’d bend the arm upward to get the maximum amount of water in the tank, then decrease that amount by putting bricks in the tank until the problems reappear.
