How can we counter Trump putting ICE agents at the polls?

Yes, that is a worry. It’s exactly why we try quiet dialogue first. It’s also why, for minor transgressions like wearing a MAGA hat while voting, we’ll usually just let a voter pass by, unless they hang around or otherwise try to call attention to themselves.

But if force is necessary, of course force will be used.

And what about the local police, do you trust them to not side with the ICEhole?
If so, I think a plan can be devised to offset the possibility of disturbance, perhaps, if there is only one ICEhole you can pretend to be on his side, make an excuse to take him somewhere farther from the polling place and deliver him to a waiting cop…

Yes, based on what little I know now, I’m pretty sure the local police will uphold the, you know, law.

I’ll know for sure after the election-specific training about 10 days before Election Day. That’s when the City Clerk briefs us on specific concerns and potential threats, and what the plans are with the police.

(It shouldn’t matter — but just for information, our city is mildly “blue,” while our county is about 50-50 overall, or ever so slightly blue.)

I do like your idea about pretending to be on his side, until it can be dealt with by a cop off-site. I might pass that on to our clerk — for real!

Frodo is kind of a genius.

Right? Ring or no ring.

Unfortunately the prejudices, perverted sprit de corps, and political ideology of cops sometimes makes them reluctant to enforce the law :frowning:

Support the League of Women Voters. They’re on this.

But how do you ensure the Democrat is really a Democrat. When I lived in Delaware County the “Democratic” county comissioner was really a Republican who had (along with 10,000 Republicans who voted for him) registered as Democrats in order to ensure that the county commission always contained 3 Republicans. This way they got around the commonwealth’s constitution that was supposed to guarantee minority representation.

To get back to the OP, I think you have to strongly support a movement to mail voting. The convicted felon has put out an XO that purports to ban, but it has no force on the states.
