Just commenting… My family and I (hubby and 2 kids) are going away for the weekend in about 3 weeks. We have two cats. I’ve _already_ made arrangements for someone to come and feed them, scoop the litterbox once or twice, and play with them. I know some people think, “Oh, it’s just cats. Fill the food bowls extra full, put out a real big bowl of water, and off we go!” Nope, I can’t do that. I need to know they’ll be taken care of. The fact that someone could leave a **baby** alone for a couple of hours, let alone three freaking weeks, is just beyond me. I can’t even begin to imagine what the mother was thinking. ---

The kid isn’t dead, and I bet that across the country in the last three days at least ten kids (total WAG) have died from abuse or neglect. I didn’t say that this was a good thing to have happen, I said it wasn’t that bad, and in the grand scheme of things, it isn’t. The kid may be a little jumpy when left alone for a while. We all got our baggage to carry. The only thing interesting about this story is the novelty of the fact that the kid ate some ketchup and dry pasta.
