# How close to the truth was the movie Monster? Spoilers I'm sure

I finally saw **Monster** last night (it just now made it to Oklahoma. :does a little happy dance: ) I was curious as to just how accurate the movie was? I’m sure they fudged some (it _is_ Hollywood, after all), but were there any big blunders?

I haven’t had a chance to see it yet–possibly I’ll go this weekend–but maybe [this material on Aileen Wuornos](http://crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/women/wuornos/1.html) might help. I think I recall that director Patty Jenkins had contact with Wuornos and Charlize Theron read a great deal of their correspondence from prison. There’s also a documentary on Wuornos coming out called [Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer](http://www.reel.com/movie.asp?MID=138741&Tab=reviews&CID=13) by Nick Broomfield, who also directed a previous documentary in 1994 called Aileen Wuornos: The Selling of a Serial Killer.
