> There’s a reason for that. Most lines have a loyalty program where you get points based on the number of nights you’ve sailed with them. If you go on just one cruise, usually, you’ll get [a bunch of benies](http://www.royalcaribbean.com/cas/benefitsLoggedout.do) for your next cruise. I couldn’t imagine switching now.

I see your point, but at the same time, that can’t be the only reason for the loyalty. Maybe it’s because of the convenience sample, but you can throw even better benefits at someone to try another cruise line and they’ll stick with the one they know.

> Hotels don’t carry you from one amazing destination to another while you sleep. Hotels don’t have free dinner, dancing, and a nightly show.

If I wanted to have free dinner, dancing, and a nightly show, I’d go to Las Vegas. Las Vegas and visits to heavily tourist-oriented ports don’t really appeal to me.

> Same here, but most importantly for me- no airports! I can see Rome one day, get a free steak and lobster dinner, see a free show, gamble a little, and go to bed. When I wake up, I’m in Sicily, then Athens, etc. I can see five or ten destinations without ever having to get on a train or plane. What’s not to love?

Lots not to love, actually, at least for me. Too much time on my hands underway, access to too much food, and very brief visits to the parts of cities that the cruise line wants you to see, as opposed to experiencing what you want to see aren’t my idea of a good time. Basically, cruises like the one you’re describing appeal to that class of people who want to go to Europe without leaving the familiarity and comforts of America. Doesn’t do it for me.

> Oh, I read about this and wanted to post, but forgot after reading about North Korea readying its nukes.

Wait, so North Korea just wants to nuke Carnival Cruise Lines? Suddenly, Cherished Leader doesn’t seem that crazy! I think we could perhaps work out some sort of joint action with him…

Throw Kathie Lee Gifford in there and I’m in.

I dunno. Seems like kind of a waste of a nuke when Carnival seems so dedicated to destroying itself.
