My bible studies are rusty and I’m far from being a Christian, so I don’t know or remember. I know about going to the tomb and finding it empty. But I’m asking about after that. Wasn’t he seen and recognized after the crucifixion? If that’s correct (and I didn’t make it up) how did he leave after this…Did he live a nice long life and die of old age? did he get enveloped in brilliant white light while ascending to heaven, all the while saying “I’ll be back.” ---

Apparently he ‘ascended into heaven’ about 40 days after the resurrection. Google, ‘Jesus Final Appearance’ and you’ll get lots of analysis. I’m no expert so i’ll provide that steer and leave you to your own research and/or other posters. ---

That’s pretty much it. It’s called the Ascension, and comes 40 days after Easter. The Nicene Creed (aka the “profession of faith” says of this event: “On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; \*\*he ascended into heaven \*\* and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end” ---

Thomas was absent that day and was convinced only when he touched Jesus’s wounds. Jesus also walked with folks on the road to Emmaus and they recognized Him when he broke bread at table. After He ascended into heaven (celebrated 40 days after Easter Sunday), the Holy Spirit descended at Pentecost (celebrated 50 days after Easter Sunday) and inspired the apostles to go out and spread the word. In the Catholic Church, the season of Easter lasts all 50 days. ---
