How Did Life Begin?

I agree. I was about to bitch about not having enough choices (having no imagination I didn’t think of selecting “Other”).

The poll needs to be redone with a proper set of choices. Don’t forget panspermia as well (not saying that I would pick that; just that it should be included).

“Panspermia” is no more an answer to the question of the origins of life than evolution is. It just pushes the mystery back another level.

I started another, hopefully better worded poll, here.

Timecube, duh.

Evolution is not a theory of the origin of life. Evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life. Evolution only explains what happened after life had already begun. Abiogenesis is a separate phenomoneon from evolution. The correct answer to the poll is “none of the above,” but there’s no reason to believe it was supernatural, and there are multiple naturalistic models which work.

One word: Midichlorians.

Have to go with “Other” because as I understand it, evolution has nothing to do with how life began. Well… perhaps not NOTHING because I suppose there was an “evolution” from non-living to living things. But I don’t think that is what the OP meant by “Evolution”.

Maybe this has already been hashed over. I posted this before reading any of the responses.

Pan-spermia does, however, answer some of the questions about pan-fried semen.

The usual feckless threats.

Frying’s so bad for you – wouldn’t baked semen better nowadays?

**Life began the moment I was born. **

The rest of you only think you were here before or after that.

You are here only for my amusement, education and aggravation.

Sorry to say, you are doing better at the last, and not so swell at the first.

But do keep trying.

Other - abiogenesis

No, it isn’t.

Yup.

Reptilian Overlords science project gone awry.

I voted other, because all of the other answers are invalid-evolution has nothing to do with how began.

I put old earth creationism–but I’m really not sure how to answer–because I think the “origin of life” is a totally separate issue from “evolution” which I believe is a system God created to allow life (which he created) to change and interact in a multitude of exciting ways.
