I wonder if there was ever a tablet vs. scroll format war…
Back in the good ol days (i.e. the late 90s) I had a Saturday job in a well-known chain record store in the local town. Around 1997, they reintroduced a vinyl section to the store, which had been phased out god-knows-when. And it’s grown steadily larger ever since.
Nitpick: Betamax was not a broadcast format. In 1982, before Betamax had lost the format wars, Sony introduced the professional quality BetaCam format. It used the same cassettes as Betamax, but recorded component video at a much higher speed than Betamax (which records composite video). Betamax and BetaCam machines could use the same tapes, but could not play back each other’s recordings. There are now digital Betacam formats. Cite.
