When people moved past the wild wild west and crime and gangs become big and we got large police force.Back than police force was small and worked with locals .If you robbed a bank not only the police will go after you but many of the towns people.If you where crook going town to town they would even put a bounty on you.
Now we have large police force and locals have to stand back and allow the police to do every thing.Police don’t work with people and are taught at police academy to treat everyone as threat.
Many of laws we have to day are to keep police force big and busy like seat belt laws ,minor traffic violations , drugs ,vice laws ,prostitution , car insurance ,arresting people on minor traffic violations ,public order offenses and such.The police force and prison got big.The prison industrial complex and police keep lobbying for more money and the growth of courts to come up with new laws to keep the police busy and courts busy.
This all started after civil war and really took of after FDR with liberal and conservative.
Well liberal and conservative are 20 century term of sets of ideas from communism , fascism and socialism of big government and government telling people want they can or cannot do.Before the 20 century America was more classic liberalism and federal government very little power want it can do.People where less incline to think of government being important out side of immigration ,defense and military.
Much of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ,DEA , welfare of person ,well being of person, drugs and prostitution laws ,seat belt laws ,environmental laws ,big police and police more than just going after violent people and crooks got bolted on after.
