At the Super Bowl. Just saw it on TV. It looked like they they were moving out even before they cut to a commercial (which I should probably be paying more attention to). What did they tell them? Did they threaten to start shooting the laggards? Feel free to move this to GQ, if needed. ---

The same road crew that got the stage and crap off the field got the people off as well. Never argue with a roadie with a purpose and a time limit. ---

Those aren’t random people picked off the street on the field for the show either…I’m sure they are given a thorough briefing before the show to discuss how they should leave the field and how quickly they should do so. ---

Deserving of it’s own pitting this whole “enthusiastic audience for hire” thing has got to go. I think I saw it first on some MTV awards show, then during Superbowl halftime shows, and even during the American Idol finales. A handpicked audience of good looking girls and guys who are specifically instructed to jump up & down, fist pump, cheer, etc. I knew hollywood was fake but this is getting pretty bad. ---

Very true. I’ve met plenty of Springsteen fans, and virtually all of them are in their forties or fifties. He’s too recent to be discovered by the somewhat inexplicable classic rock crowd in high school and college, but has been around too long for his actual fans to get on and off the field that quickly. ---

They’re not all super-young gorgeous beauties, and some signed up 'cause they wanted to be part of the Superbowl, and some signed up 'cause they wanted to see Springsteen. I first encountered this phenomenon when I attended the first MTV Movie Awards (sis won tickets and gave them to me). The friend I went with and I were seated in the very last row, which we thought was unfair - welcome to Hollywood, kids. We were even more upset when Garbage performed and suddenly a bunch of "grunge"dressed young people suddenly appeared out of nowhere and rushed the stage - how come they got to do that and we, the _real_ fans, didn’t?! I found out later the people cheering and crowd-surfing right in front of Shirley Manson were merely rent-a-fans. ---

They are cetainly not random people; they’re practically hired for the task. Look at them : all the girls are beautiful, the guys are handsome, and not one of them were over 25. Considering how long Bruce has been around, the crowd should have been middle-aged. ---

The folks shown in the newspaper may have formed the body of the crowd, but the director of the crowd very definitely put the most camera-ready people where the cameras could easily find them. If this event had any honesty at all, the biggest fans would have been up front rather than the most photogenic. ---

You know, during the show it briefly flitted through my mind that there were not that many empty seats in the stadium. In other words, if the infield audience were all ticket holders to the game, there should have been more empty seats. But I forgot about it until I saw this post.
