Typical Thursday afternoon in Southern California. It’s hot as all hell, and I’m sitting around in my living room, only wearing a bra and shorts. I’m alone, so I can afford to walk around half nekked like that. Then, some DUDE opens my door and is standing in the doorway looking at me. What the?! So I started screaming. This dude is looking at me half naked! Then I get to thinking… Wait, umm… _How the hell did he get in here?!!???!?!?!_ Then I start thinking some more… _WHO THE FUCK IS HE?!?!_ What was that?! Why are there random people moseying into my apartment?! I called my roommate, and she says I’m being paranoid. Well of course I’m being paranoid! A complete stranger just waltzed into my apartment. He couldn’t have been there for a good reason because he left when I started screaming. What the heck? ---

I’m glad you are O.K. -remember, alot of crimes are committed because of a random opportunity presents itself and Lock Your Doors! I once found myself in a similar situation, but heard noises in the back of my apt. There was a guy crawling throught my bathroom window. He had one leg out the window and one leg on my toilet, with the rest of his body in the bathroom. I don’t have a single doubt that he was there for nefarious reasons. I screamed and ran out the front. When we went back in later (after the cops) the window was closed and everything seemed so normal, I almost doubted myself for a second. I moved upstairs shortly thereafter. Scary. ---

Dear lord, **Cranky** , after everything else you’ve dealt with so far this summer! (BTW, how is your car?) Please, PLEASE report this to the police with a description. It’s still trespassing, and at least if they see him nosing around again they will have a reason to pick him up. ---

Maybe he was the tenant before & used the key. How many owners change the key between tenants? Few. ---

Confusing me with CrankyAsAnOldMan, **Maureen**? 😉 Yeah, calling the police seems like the best idea, 'cept I don’t really know much about this dude. The only description I could give would be pretty damn vague. My car’s over. My sister’s boyfriend let me take his car for the summer. How weird. But playing devils’ advocate… Locks aren’t all foolproof. In my univeristy residence we discovered just goofing around that my key would work in a friend’s door, and my dad’s key worked for an acquaintace’s car. Perhaps there’s something weird with your lock and the guy ended up in the wrong place. I once found myself on my landlord’s doorstep – _two floors below mine_ – and was just about to try my key in her lock when I thought “hey, I don’t have a doormat…” Maybe the guy was visiting a friend and ended up in the wrong place. Make sure you get your locks changed quick either way. ---
