What Rousseau said, only there is no difference between internet and IRL to me. I don’t have the energy to put up a facade or change my ways for anyone online or IRL. ---

The same here and IRL. I’ve worked too hard and too long to be happy with who I am to not be me all the time, no matter what the circumstances. I’ve had friends tell me how amazed they are at how I am the same both on- and offline, and that I’m one of the few people they know who is like that. IRL, I’m very quiet and shy; I think I have an easier time “talking” online. But when I do talk IRL, people seem to think I’m funny and smart and chide me for not talking more. I don’t get that same feeling here; you are all way smarter and funnier than me. Having also met Falcon IRL, I second that she’s a hottie. However, I must contest her assertion that she’s in any way ‘shy’ or reserved. But then, my experience may be different from y’all’s. Might be the way she jumped me in the airport. IRL, I think I’m pretty much the same as I am online. My only concern is that I joke around a lot, and it’s harder to tell when someone’s serious and when they’re joking by their typing. So, keep in mind that I’m probably just kidding around 99 44/100% of the time, even when I seem like I’m getting nasty. K? ---

You wouldn’t recognise me. Cessandra even refused to call me “TheNerd” because it just didn’t fit. And then I saw her boyfriend Carl at the AidsWalk a week or two ago, and he didn’t recognise me at all. (Cess, you can tell him that’s who it was, if it’s bothering him.) ---

As other here might attest, I’m a lot quieter in real life- then again, it’s easier to get a word in edge-wise when it’s just typing, and with three-hundred odd (and, oh boy, do I mean _odd_) threads to choose from, it’s likely I’ll find some topic where I actually know my ass from a hole in the ground. Also, in real life I’m less likely to disappear into oblivion for a month. ---

Online, I can be witty, charming, opinionated, strong-willed, flirtatious, and eloquent. In real life, I am painfully shy, quiet in the extreme, low on self-confidence, and tend to keep my thoughts and feelings to myself. Sometimes I read my own postings and think “Gosh, I’d like to meet her someday…” It isn’t that this is a mask, or a fake persona, or anything. Deep down inside me, there really is a neuro-trash grrrl screaming to be let out. Here’s where she goes when I do. * * * Heck is where you go when you don’t believe in Gosh. ---

I’m the same person, other than having to check my typing again and yet again before hitting ‘submit’! Wish we could do THAT in real life, or hit the ‘clear fields’ button and take it all back. Everything and everyone seems sharper online, but that may be because we are answering to posts and reading what others say first. I know I do, and that stimulates deeper answers at times. ## Smilies sure come in handy here too, wouldn’t \* that \* be a cool tool to have? IRL I have a much better sense of humor. It’s easier to carry off face to face than it is here. Here it tends to sound more like sarcasim. I also have a tendency to type and hit the send button before reading what I’ve typed, because IRL I speak my mind without thinking about it, which does not always endear me to people that do not like to hear the truth. Well, if it means anything - I discovered some of my old posts on a different board the other day - and I didn’t resonate with what I’d posted in any way. It was like a separate person had written the words. So I dunno what that might mean… In real life I’m quiet-ish, kind of geeky, and keep to myself.
