The thing to keep in mind about text to speech devices is that blind people with highly “trained ears” listen to speech at a far more rapid pace than do you and I, and can navigate a webpage with ease so long as it is arranged in “list” format and not “windows” format.
For the partially sighted, there are multiple text-enlarging programs, such as Zoomtext, that enable people with reduced vision to use the internet. I’ve heard there are some stability issues with the program for some of my patients.
