In Firefox, when I click on a link directly to someone’s email address, first the browser freezes, then an error message comes up and informs me that I have not properly configured my email client, and then 51 Internet Explorer windows open up, completely filling my screen.

How can I put an end to this nonsense? Can I configure it to go directly to Gmail when I click on someone’s email address?
