# How do I delete Bing from Mac/Firefox?

A few days ago, little “Click to Search” tags started to pop up on nearly every photo on my Firefox browser. They’re unwanted and interfere with my use and enjoyment of most pages. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? They connect to Bing, a search engine I never use, and the problem seems to coincide with some batch of upgrades of existing programs. This is in a MacBook Pro, so right-clicking anything is not an option.

1. Look in Tools-\>Add-ons.
2. Right-click is either: Control-click or two-finger click.

Nope, didn’t do anything. I wound up deleting Firefox. Maybe I’ll re-install it if I start to miss it.

There was a very recent thread in which the problem of unwanted Bing search capability/boxes with Firefox upgrades was discussed, together with a simple online fix.
If I wasn’t so lazy I’d do the board search to find the thread, but you’re on your own. 🙂
\*I also never use Bing as it is a pile of crap.

On the right side of the search bar in the upper right corner, there should be an icon indicating the currently active search engine, and a little down arrow to right of that icon. Click on that arrow, and then on “Manage Search Engines…” at the bottom of the box that appears. Click on “Bing” then click on “Remove” from the right.

Huh… This argument comes up regularly from PC users, but I didn’t know that there are Mac users that are unaware of the right-clicking capability of their machine.

The Mac has only supported two button mice (and keyboard/touchpad support to allow it on one-button ones) for about eighteen years; apparently there is some adjustment period.

I guess so. Macs use mice now? Kinky!
