# How do I do a putz, grin and shock smiley?

Look around here for a thing that says “Smilies are on.” One place it’s found is on the Reply page, up at the top, next to where it says “Posts: HTML code is OFF.” Click on the word “Smilies”–it’s a link and it’ll take you to the list of official smilies.

It’s also at the bottom of each thread, right above where it says Contact the Straight Dope.

There is a plan to eventually add to the list of smilies.
