Well, if we’re taking a poll, I think it’s a jerkish thing to do.

I’m only posting to request pictures if the dog actually gets dyed. A few reaction pictures might be good too.

From personal experience.

1. Get large fluffy Saymoyed.
2. Let Large Fluffy Samoyed introduce itself to a skunk.
3. Believe in old Wives tale that Tomato juice is the best way to get rid of Skunk smell.
4. Liberally cover Large fluffy Samoyed in Tomato juice.

You end up with a very pink dog.

I would likewise laugh hysterically if someone dyed my pets a strange colour, as long as it was with something that would fade/wash out eventually.

I have painted many dogs with Krylon. It is great and vivid, but comes out immediately with even the most casual wash, It only sits on the surface of the coat and hair, so even regular dog romping makes it come off

\*\*If \*\*this is a show-quality dog and your friend has plans to show the dog any time in the near future, then I think you are taking a great risk with your life. IF I showed dogs, left mine with you, and you did this, I would hunt you down and murder you in your sleep.

That said, my dogs are lap pigs and I would find two half-pink Boston Terrorists hysterically funny.

They’d look like Good 'N Plentys.

The only thing I can think of: in the past some pet store was selling dyed chicks and baby rabbits as a novelty pet at Easter time, and something went horribly wrong.

I once saw baby chicks dyed while still in the shell, done as a Science Fair Project. Evidently some dealers also did this as an Easter stunt (at Englishtown Farm Market /Auction Sales in New Jersey). I suspect tha someone took offense at this, and at dying rabbits for Easter (something I haven’t heard of, but which wouldn’t surprise me, and fits with the Easter theme.)

The ordnance names “mammals” in the body, but not in the title, which seems backwards – it’s much more expansive, and makes the title misleading.
Also, since people are “mammals”, unless they’re defined out elsewhere, this would seem to prohibit use of Grecian Formula and Just For Men and all Women’s hair dyes.

This is a probably mixed breed, not show dog. She is a high quality dog, but on a mostly personal level. The dyed rabbit and bird law is due to Easter novelty pets. Almost everything about novelty pets goes horribly wrong

If I had a white dog and you dyed it pink I’d probably find it funny, but am I a little worried about the dye coming off the dog and ruining the carpeting or upholstery. Koolaid doesn’t sound like it would be very colorfast.

Buy a red tablecloth. Place dog and tablecloth in washer. Wash both on warm, warm rinse, delicate cycle. Drip dry. Both should now be pink.

Food colorings work well, and fade fairly quickly. One sunny April Saturday a couple of years ago, my wife and I were slamming brewskys and dyeing Easter eggs. After a few too many of the aforementioned brewskys, I did a cool little blue number on the top of our poodle’s head. My wife’s reaction was typical of the species—she rolled her eyes and muttered something under her breath about “men”. Much to my surprise, however, it only lasted a few days before fading, and I was rapidly forgiven.

Is your pal a fun loving, devil-may-care sort of person or more reserved?

Some dog owners treat their animals better than they treat other people.

Personally I’d be extremely angry over such a breech of trust.

Is it worth risking your friendship?

The dye used for baby Easter chicks killed a lot of them. Maybe larger animals are hardier?

On a personal note my dog had a pink butt for a while.

She is crate trained and normally has a hamster style water dispenser but it broke the day before and my fiancé put her water bowl in the crate with her, as well as a rawhide.

Well apparently, she put the rawhide in the water dish just long enough for the colouring to seep into the water, and then she knocked the water dish over and laid down in the puddle until we got home.

Dogs dying themselves pink are hilarious but they don’t get even coverage.
