# How do I get free mobile ringtones?

I just got a phone with the “Get It Now” feature from Verizon. They have a store where you can buy ringtones online.
Is there a legal and safe way to download ringtones? I am not trying to skirt pirating laws, so if this qulaifies, just say so.
Also, is there a way to take a song you have on your pc and make it a ringtone?

I have Verizon and use [PhoneZoo.com](http://PhoneZoo.com). It’s perfectly free to take mp3s you have on your computer, and send a 30 second section to your phone. It just costs the price of a picture message with your phone plan.

Some Verizon phones are deliberately blocked from natively importing mp3s as ringers. This is so Verizon can sell you ringtones. On the other hand, you own the phone, and the people at [www.howardforums.com](http://www.howardforums.com) can hack anything.
