# how do I get the date for a photo on my iPhone?

I have a photo on my iPhone and I’m trying to get the date it was taken. Is there a way I can do that?

On the phone itself? Get a free app like Koredeco or EXIF wizard. I’m not aware of a way doing it with the on-board OS, though. (Pretty annoying, actually.)

aha! if I post it on Flickr I can get all the info about it, including when it was taken.

On iOS8, viewing the photo in Photos shows the date info at the top of the screen above the photo.

On iOS 7, viewing groups of photos in the Moments shows the date taken on the right and the location on the left above the photos.

Ah, yes, that is true. Forgot about that. I wonder why the app doesn’t drill down more, though, and give the time, too.
