I found a nice digital camera in Maui last week. There was no obvious “lost and found” to leave it at, so I kept it. There are a bunch of vacation photos on it, but no owner identification. Should I just post the photos, and if so, where? ---

Here’s a similar incident where the owner was found. [Found Camera | Flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/64077870@N04/sets/72157626962497032/with/5833778522/) I suppose you could post the photos online and send an email to a Maui newspaper or TV station. ---

You could try [this tool](http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/) . The purpose is actually to help find stolen cameras by comparing the camera’s serial number, which is stored in the exif data of its photos, to other photos on the web. But if you find out where the camera owner has been posting his or her photos it could potentially lead you to them. ---

I put in the serial number and got zero hits. I’ll probably post the photos on Flikr page, unless you folks have a better suggestion. ---

There’s a [facebook page for lost and found cameras.](http://www.facebook.com/Lost.and.Found.Cameras?sk=wall) The only lost camera for Maui was May 31st, though. Could your camera have been lost that long? ---

Tip: When my teen spent her Christmas money on a digital camera, I had her take the first picture of a piece of paper with her address on it in case she lost it and a nice person found it. ---
