# How do I keep my sig from being posted automatically?

I can never remember to turn it off for each new post! I can’t find anything in ATMB or on the control panel about turning off the sig unless I specify I want it.

Any tips?

I remembered to turn it off this time.

For now, you must remember to uncheck the Show Signature box whenever you don’t want your sig posted. This may or may not change as further tweaks and customizations are applied down the road.

Ah, thanks for the update, Q.E.D… I’d asked basically the same question in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=234950), and I’m glad to know I’m not alone in my desire to have this old feature back.

Sure is fun to see all these antique sigs surfacing again, though, huh? Especially since it’s almost always inadvertent. It’s as if the digital gremlins are in revolt. Sort of like Stephen King’s _Maximum Overdrive_, except instead of giant machines coming to life and killing people, it’s little blocks of text mysteriously appearing where you don’t want them to. So, um, really, it’s nothing like Stephen King. So never mind.

What I do is preview and then I see my stupid sig, so when I really really post, I uncheck ‘show your signature’. I think I’ve only missed one time so far, but if it gets to be a problem, I’ll just delete my sig (all the words in it anyway). 😉
