# How do I register another user at my house?

My wife wants to register, but when she tries, it says she is logged on as me all ready.
How do I log myself out of SD so she can sign up with her own user name?

Go to our front page, look at the lower right hand corner, under the forum listings.
You’ll see a hyperlink that says “Log Out?” Click on it. You’re logged out. When you wanna come back, come back to that page and it’ll say “Sign In?” Sign in.
For both of you to use the same computer, each of you needs to log in and log out for each session at the SDMB. Otherwise, one of you will wind up posting under the other’s screen name.
Oh, and she’ll need her own separate email address, of course.

If you go to the message board main page. Here it [is](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/index.php). At the bottom is an option to Log Out. Click it and you should be good to go.

If you have two separate sub-accounts with your ISP, each one gets its own email account and cookie file. For example, IIRC, AOL lets you have up to five separate email accounts for each payed account. As long as each of you registers for a separate sub-account (sorry, I don’t know the technical name), you’ll each have your own cookie files and will be recognized as two separate people by the board without having to log out.

I just fell into that selfsame trap. I posted under my sister’s name.
Make sure you log out. I never post on this computer ordinarily, so it never occurred to me.
