Last night, I was trying to save/download a financial news article from CNN’s website.

So, I clicked on “save” and then the “Saving Web Page” window appears. And then it just sits there–and sits and sits–as my PC is trying to download the document.

Sometimes a good five minutes passes as my PC tries to save a single page.

What’s going on here? There’s something little to no graphics on these saved pages.

When I try to stop this process by clicking the “X” in the window, it doesn’t stop the process. Short of breaking my connection, how do I stop my HAL 9000 from trying to complete this aggravating downloading process?
