# How do some people graduate from college without understanding the fundamentals of their major?

This post is more of a political rant against AOC than it is a response to the actual topic of this thread. Please do not bring politics into non-political threads. If you want to discuss politics or AOC, there are more appropriate places to do so here.

Also, note that the purpose of this message board is to get to the underlying truths behind things, i.e. the “straight dope” of the matter. Our purpose is fighting ignorance, not spreading it. Unlike places like Facebook or Reddit, our culture here is that if you make some sort of assertion, you are expected to back it up with cites that support your assertion. It is therefore very common for someone to ask “cite?” in response to an assertion, and you are expected to provide a cite that actually proves your point. Your cite in this case is just a generic article about AOC and doesn’t say anything specifically about her inability to understand economics. If you want to make the claim that AOC doesn’t understand economics, you need to provide a cite that specifically demonstrates her lack of understanding.

And again, that discussion is better suited to one of the political forums or at the least a more politically oriented thread.
