For crying out loud - why would NASA/JPL wait 40+ years to put out fake pictures.
This stuff makes me wish for a human eugenics program.

Yes, because dings and scrapes can really hurt the resale value on a used vehicle.

I was thinking more of poking a hole in the ascent stage at a very bad time. 🙂

How is that possible in a vacuum? All forces/gasses acting on the lander would send any debris _away from_ the ascent stage.

They bight bounce off something. Vacuum or not; the only difference would be the wind, and I don’t think wind on Earth would deflect debris unless it a storm.

The deniers would argue the Lunar Module was secretly modified to fly and land unmanned in order to deploy TOP SECRET military stuff in order to fuel the cold war. What you see in the LRO pictures is the TOP SECRET military stuff.

This is my death stab at the dumb arguments I get from HS students. Unfortunately these are also the same ones often who don’t know why the Soviets would have made a big deal about it, because they’re not too bright or academic, and aren’t sure what the USSR was.

The stock woo answer to that one is that the evil US gubmint bought off the evil Soviet gubmint with shiploads of grain (or blue jeans, or Creedence Clearwater Revival LPs, or whatever).

Surely the rover tracks would have been covered over by several feet of dust when the lunar module launched?

Seriously though, haven’t most of the deniers packed up and gone home? On this (brit) side of the atlantic, I haven’t heard a peep about it in years. Even on the infotainment channels it crops up about as often as the bermuda triangle.

Whenever a SD poster uses the word “denier” in a thread title, my eyeballs always see the word “diener” first…and I’m a little startled as to why someone would be discussing a morgue assistant!

Actually, it’s the deniers that don’t exist. They’re all socks created by NASA so that they’ll have to continually answer stupid questions. That’s the only way that some people can learn.

I’m not sure if you’re serious about this, but in case you or another reader is: What’s easy to forget is that there’s no atmosphere on the moon, and the only dust thrown up by the launch would be the particles directly hit by exhaust particles. There’s no swirl of air that would raise a big dust cloud like on earth.
