How do the Indian (subcontinent) languages separate words and sentences?

And I finally realized that although what Australians hear in American accents is the different vowel sounds, what I miss in Australian accents is the different consonants. I was taught to articulate each consonant: Australians do not. Does this make me easier to understand? Yes. But the most significant effect is that when I soften my consonants to sound more natural, I get my D’s wrong and they come out like t’s or v’s.
