# How do you 'burn rubber'?

Trans brakes are used at the start of races. A Trans-Brake is a device that engages both the forward and reverse gear in a transmission. You hit the button, and get ready as if you were taking off, and when the green light comes on, let go of the button and -_-_-_-_-_-ITS GO TIME-_-_-_-_-_- There might be some people that use Line Locks to take off, but when your in a vehicle with no front brakes, they dont work.

You people are all nuts, ('cept racer72 and Rick). A BRAKE-STAND is the most common form of doing a burnout in most any car. As long as you have enough power to overcome the rear brakes it will work just like having a line lock.
All you have to do is press the brake and then floor the gas (or some variation of this) and the car stays still while the tires smoke.
Most cars will slowly move forward no matter how much power they have if you don’t use the brake in some manner.
You can even use the brake stand technique with a manual, you just have to dump the clutch and get on the brake ASAP. The car should stay put if you do it quick enoug and with enough initial power to get the tires spinning right away.
Now if you have a wildly high RPM torque (stall) converter in the transmission then you can really have lots of fun with brake stands and spinning tires, cause they’re very easy to do. I had a 72 Chevelle with a 402 (big block) and a 2,700 RPM stall in it. With a 2.73 open rear end. Talk about fun in first gear!!
