I am clueless. I want to upload a picture onto the 'net, but the site says it is not a valid image, it needs to be in .jpg format. Any advice?

Use a program such as [Gimp](http://www.gimp.org/). Probably there are lots of other utilities that can do the same thing.

MS Paint that comes with Windows will do it.

Open the .BMP with Paint, then “Save As” .JPG.
