How do you eat a cupcake?

For a cupcake with filling (chocolate ganache!) and a stack of frosting, I cut it in half vertically so I have two equal halves, then place the halves side-by-side on a plate to be eaten with a fork.

For a regular cupcake with a stack of frosting, I eat the bottom of the cupcake first, followed by the top of the cake and its wonderful frosting.

My method:

Is the icing better than the cupcake (extremely rare)? Then I lick the icing off and throw the cupcake away.

Is the cupcake better than the icing? Then I scrape the frosting off and eat the cupcake.

Very rarely do I eat both.

This, except I find a sort of twisting motion is cleaner than just ripping.

My love of vanilla icing knows no bounds. I generally rip the bottom off and eat the top. Sometimes I just eat the icing and toss the rest.

I’m just grateful that you didn’t say “With relish”.

Pretty close to this for me, too. The frosting will overwhelm the cake part, so you have to get it off first. Not completely down to nothing, but enough that it will go with the cake part.
