I think it has something to do with being extremely comfortable with that person. Feeling as if you’ve known them your whole life. That you can talk to that person about anything and they will relate or understand. I think it also has to do wether you feel you could live without that person. Adoration is one thing where as respect is another. As for someone loving you, you just have that total warm secure feeling that the person would never purposly try to hurt or leave you. That the person trusts you and believes in you no matter what your aspirations. At least that is some of the feeling I experience with love… Chief might want to scoff… :shrugs shoulders: ---

Okay. If your dearly beloved comes home from an all-night pub crawl, and vomits repeatedly, and soils his or her drawers, and babbles incoherently the whole while, and possibly mentions the names of three or four people you’ve never heard of, and you get them cleaned up and in bed and get their things cleaned up and clean the bathroom and STILL manage to look at them with love…then it’s love. ---

There are twelve or so ways to say love in Latin. You know why? Because our society has fucked with the word love 'til we don’t know a gurgle in our stomach from a lifetime commitment. Real love is a lot of hard work. You wanna know my theory? Use people. Use the hell out of them! Tip them upside down and shake them like fucking piggy banks until you have all their nice, shiny pennies in your hot little hand. Then smash them on the sidewalk and proceed on your merry way… All these people who say they’re in love just want a piece: a piece of ass, a piece of dough, a piece of security… and as for butterflies and bells, those are just hormones, chemical reactions, boring scientific processes as old as the redwood trees. So, enjoy this person while you have them, but know that you could live without them and that “love” as a word means nothing. It’s actions that supply the proof. ---

I often wondered about whether I was really in love with someone or was it lust or just another obsession until I “fell in love”. I can’t explain it but my world changed completely and all those stupid cliches about being in love struck home. The French have a saying about lightening striking, or is it thunderstruck? I remember thinking that “this is it” as I gazed into his eyes… But then again, as I posted about a month ago, my sister in law gave me some Caribbean lucome beads. You know the type that you soak in chicken blood while chanting some spell casting words and the next man who touches them will be your husband… yeah, he touched them as they hung on the wall next to my other exotic African trade beads. No, it wasn’t that moment that thunder or lightening struck - that came a couple of hours later… hhhhhmmmmm. ---

I can tell you how to find out if you are really in love. Ask yourself, “If this person was shot in the face and seriously disfigured. No more nose, one eye, half a jaw, etc. Would I stay with him/her through it all and still love him/her just the same?” If you think about it thoroughly and give yourself an honest answer, you will know.
