# how do you log out of your forum?

Where is the single click button to log out of your forum? I use a terminal with several straightdope users and we all have different profiles. e-mail me.

Go to the main page and scroll down. You’ll see “Log Out” on the right of the page.

You can’t log out of a FORUM, per se, but you can log out of the SDMB by doing as yojimbo suggested.

You mean we’re supposed to log out? No one ever told me.

Hey, don’t do that. I just did. It said “All cookies cleared,” and I returned to my forum. Then I had to log in. Why not just click the X on the upper right, as I’ve always done? What’s wrong with that?

There’s nothing wrong with that but remember that cookies are not deleted when you close the browser, which is why you usually don’t have to log in again when you start your browser the next day. If you share your machine with other people, or are using a public machine, people who notice that you’re still logged in can do nefarious things, like post stupid questions under your account. Logging out prevents this.
