A friend of mine who’s doing time in minimum security prison has to have his books sent directly from the publisher. He can only have a certain amount of books at a time. He can get letters and pictures, but no polaroids, no stickers, no stamps.
He spends his time going to classes, doing yoga, reading, writing letters.
Many prisons restrict packages being sent in by family or friends. It makes it too easy to smuggle in contraband.

I good friend of mine, his step father works at a person about 40min from where i live. Its minimal security i remember asking so many questions about prison. One thing that sticks in my mind is the inmates here that work make money. There is different ranks they can move up in there jobs which means more money. But you can only make something like $7 a day. Then each week when u get your basic good (soap, toothpaste .ect) you can buy more stuff, razors, more deoderants, more paper .ect

One time he told me there was an inmate who got fired from his job because he had just got the computer delivered to his cell. (They make a booking and then whens there time comes around they are allowed to use it for an hour. Then guards come take ti back and move on to the next person who booked.) And found a disk in the drive and realized it belonged to someone he doesn’t like so he deleted all the stuff of it. So they fired him as a punishment. I thought this was all pretty trivial stuff, but i found out there is a lot of gossip and childish behavior that happens in there
