Simple poll: which device do you use most often to post to the SDMB? _Poll ([view on site](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/how-do-you-post-to-the-sdmb/943624/1))_ I mostly use my phone to post to the SDMB. I think that’s why I don’t tend to write very long posts nor posts which require multiple cites. When I first started, it was definitely desktop only. ---

Still mostly a desktop, but I use my phone a lot more than before. I’ve gotten decently good at typing on my phone. ---

I’m strictly desktop. I tend to be verbose and hand held devices make verbosity difficult. It’s a minor pet peeve of mine that often my e-mail messages are responded to with the equivalent of a text message. Smart devices are a convenient technology but sometimes I need more. Oh well. ---

Technically, I’m on a laptop, but it’s sitting on a desk, attached to an external display, using an external mouse. I am using the laptop keyboard, though! But it feels pretty indistinguishable from a desktop setup. ---

I almost always use my laptop. Typing any large number of words isn’t suitable for phone, and the autocorrect is maddening. ---

I have used all of those, but desktop most often. Trying to type something substantial without an actual keyboard (or do various other computery things on a phone rather than an actual computer) feels maddening, like trying to walk around with my ankles tied together. ---

Posting? Almost exclusively desktop, home or work. I will occasionally read the board on a phone/small tablet, but I only think I’ve posted with one once or twice. Way to cumbersome for my aging hands and brain to work on a tiny keyboard. I’m still very much desktop-bound for a lot of things - tablets don’t come near to cutting it and I still can’t quite bring myself to get a laptop because I prefer desktops for a variety of reasons and I’d want a pricey high-end laptop. Having two relatively expensive and largely redundant computers for occasional convenience hasn’t yet made it past my logic filter. ---

I have an large laptop which I use as a desktop replacement, and I never really take it off my desk. I wasn’t sure what category that would fall under, so I didn’t vote. Anyhow, this laptop/desktop accounts for 99% of my posts, with my phone accounting for 1%. Like others have been saying, it’s just too aggravating to type long posts on a phone. If I’m away from home, I’m fine with browsing the board on a phone, but I’d rather wait until I get back before responding. ---

the percentage of typos I make is directly tied to how much I’m posting on my phone vs on my laptop. ---

Mostly desk top. More on phone these days since voice to text is pretty decent. There should be an app that converts text speak to real words. Would make typing easier. ---

I post using two laptops – my personal machine, and my work-issued laptop. I haven’t owned a desktop computer since around 2008. I will, on occasion, take a look at the boards on my iPhone, but I rarely post using it, unless it’s a very short response to someone. ---

I can’t remember when i last owned a desktop. I mostly post from my phone. (Swyping. Thus my tendency towards typos.) I also sometimes post from any of the laptops i might be using. I’ve gotten fairly good at posting links and stuff via the phone. ---
