You’re right. I haven’t managed an ATI-based system since 2011. I figured ~20 years of trying to make them work as well as Nvidia systems was enough.

I’m all for proprietary solutions when they work - especially when they work better than “open” solutions that have no advantage but to make socialist college students feel better about their technology addictions.

Yeah, open standards over proprietary hardware-specific standards have no history of success in the technology industry. You’ve won me over with your nonsense.

Then why are you supporting the closed-source system? This is supposed to be arguments, not contradictions.

What?

From [here](http://www.wikivs.com/wiki/CUDA_vs_OpenCL)

> [@](#):
>
> CUDA is a proprietary GPU architecture and programming framework by Nvidia that is only accelerated on Nvidia hardware. It includes a C-based programming language. OpenCL was Originally developed by Apple, but is now managed by the Khronos group that maintains a number of open standards in audiovisual media.
>
> OpenCL is an open standard that runs on hardware by multiple vendors, including desktop and laptop GPUs by AMD/ATI and Nvidia. OpenCL can fallback to execution on the host CPU, if a supported GPU is not present.

Another shout out for Toms Hardware list. I just worked my way down the list and then looked at BestBuy untill I found one within the budget ( ok there was no budget, just one I thought I could get away with without the good lady getting miffed and responding with an increase in the discretionary spending limit)

No doubt there is much minutia and plenty of arguments over what is better between the various systems, but if like me you are a fairly casual gamer, the intersection between your price point and a " good enough" comparison chart is all you need.
