You’re right. I haven’t managed an ATI-based system since 2011. I figured ~20 years of trying to make them work as well as Nvidia systems was enough.
I’m all for proprietary solutions when they work - especially when they work better than “open” solutions that have no advantage but to make socialist college students feel better about their technology addictions.

Another shout out for Toms Hardware list. I just worked my way down the list and then looked at BestBuy untill I found one within the budget ( ok there was no budget, just one I thought I could get away with without the good lady getting miffed and responding with an increase in the discretionary spending limit)
No doubt there is much minutia and plenty of arguments over what is better between the various systems, but if like me you are a fairly casual gamer, the intersection between your price point and a " good enough" comparison chart is all you need.
