Muhp-sims. I’m not sure how to represent the first syllable, but it is like the “ma” in “material”. ---

It’s not in the Latin alphabet because (IIUC) it came from Hebrew and is most prevalent in Germanic languages (German, English, Dutch, Frisian, Scots, etc.), and AFAIK doesn’t exist in the Romance languages. And here’s something that might win you a couple hundred bucks on Jeopardy: it is the most common sound in the English language. ---

I must have some type of disorder, because I pronounce it “ **M** -pizzums”, which is obviously wrong. Come to think of it, I used to call doughnuts “Doug-hunts”. Go figure. ---
