And ‘soon, but not today’ gives everyone a cover while they are back home for Christmas and meeting outraged constituents face-to-face. Then a return to shenanigans when safely back in DC in 2024 where they can take up the mantle ‘it’s an election year we should let the voters decide!’ ---

There’s a Christmas break coming up. If Tuberville doesn’t cooperate, I would love to see Schumer move that the Senate would not adjourn, and instead they would stay in DC and vote singly for approval. 24/7, sorry, guys, no Christmas for you. I would bet that after a day or 3 or 4 the other senators would force Tuberville to throw in the towel and then they could vote en masse and that’s the end of it. On the other hand, I don’t know why several of the R senators haven’t “persuaded” Tuberville to be out of the office when the next vote came up. That would also solve the problem. ---

Not so far as I understand. The news just broke, and apparently he announced it rather off the cuff. I haven’t seen footage of the actual announcement. I’m sure there will be something in print media soon, and I can link to it then. ---
