Senate confirms more than 400 military promotions after Tuberville ends blockade
They were confirmed by unanimous consent.

The whole game here is just to give Senate Republicans an excuse for voting against the rules resolution. “Why are we voting on this resolution when Senator Tuberville already said he’s willing to compromise?!?!?” And then when he’s announced which officers he thinks are “woke,” that’ll just launch another round of negotiations that will give Senate Republicans an excuse not to force the issue. Repeat ad nauseum.
And ‘soon, but not today’ gives everyone a cover while they are back home for Christmas and meeting outraged constituents face-to-face. Then a return to shenanigans when safely back in DC in 2024 where they can take up the mantle ‘it’s an election year we should let the voters decide!’
I beg to differ. If he’s defining “woke” he can define anybody he doesn’t like that way.
Don’t give him that kind of power.
And especially those who support the, um, “A” word.
Looking furtively this way and that…abortion!
Exactly. “woke” simply means “anyone who will not pay fealty to King Tuberville”
There’s a Christmas break coming up. If Tuberville doesn’t cooperate, I would love to see Schumer move that the Senate would not adjourn, and instead they would stay in DC and vote singly for approval. 24/7, sorry, guys, no Christmas for you. I would bet that after a day or 3 or 4 the other senators would force Tuberville to throw in the towel and then they could vote en masse and that’s the end of it.
On the other hand, I don’t know why several of the R senators haven’t “persuaded” Tuberville to be out of the office when the next vote came up. That would also solve the problem.
Do the MAGA base actually support Tappin’ Tommy?
On a right wing forum, I’m being educated that it’s right to block the promotion of people who are woke, because woke is an ideology that seeks to cancel people who don’t share your views.
Every conservative accusation is a confession.
They have to be the right ideas, of course.
Just lifted his hold on 400+ military promotions. At long last.
Were there any conditions?
Not so far as I understand. The news just broke, and apparently he announced it rather off the cuff. I haven’t seen footage of the actual announcement. I’m sure there will be something in print media soon, and I can link to it then.
Three star and below is lifted.
There are ten promotions to four star that are held. I assume those can get regular votes.

Thank you.
I have to assume that a bunch of Republicans swarmed his office. “We’re gonna hafta suspend the rules because of you and that’ll put us on record for a vote. We don’t wanna take no written responsibility for your shit. Now get the fuck out on the floor and back the fuck down.” “Or else?” “See this folder? Pictures that show you in bed with a dead girl and a live boy.” “Fuck. Thought I burned those. You win.”
Or words to that effect.

“…I was speaking metaphorically.”
And the Senate immediately confirms the 400+ non-four-star officer nominations by unanimous consent.

So all he really did was waste a lot of time.
Fuck, is it asking too much to expect even the shitbags to have some principles they’ll stand by? What was the fucking point of it all? What did he accomplish? Ultimately, he didn’t even advance his own shitty agenda. What a waste of spacetime.
