And then we have the sinister “_double bow_” that prevents them from coming untied…

My Dad gets three loops when finished, instead of the standard two.

I don’t know how he does it though.

I think that’s why I never have been able to use just one loop. My motor skills are decent, but I’m _terrible_ at reversing anything. I get lost on the way home from places I got directions to; I can’t mimic what someone does with their right hand (learning how to crochet was horrible.) Now, had a leftie tried to teach me to tie my shoes, then maybe I would have figured it out…but my dad, another leftie, can’t do the one loop method either.

**Colophon** the bunny-ear method is on the same site that Lsura [linked to](http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/knot2.htm). It doesn’t come untied very often if you pull the knots tight. Oh, and if you don’t do what it says (not to) in the warning box at the bottom.

I use the two loop method, although my mom watched me do it once and told me I do it backwards. I’m not sure what she meant by that. I had never heard of the bunny ear method until I met my husband. He still uses it. He’s fifty, I’m 48, and we both grew up in the midwest USA. He’s more of a city kid than I am, if that makes any difference. Not to mention the fact that his mom grew up in a boarding home. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, since I never saw her tie her shoes.
