# How does one market/promote a blog/website?

I was just wondering if anyone out there is familiar with the techniques for getting traffic on a newly-established blog/website.

[This advice](http://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-more-views-and-traffic/) is sound - with the exception of the Tags item the general principles apply to any blog.

The best method in my experience is to read other blogs. Link to them when you have something to say about their posts in your own blog.

Beware backlink packages and SEO services.
