It was Ed Helms who did the Tikrit is on fire bit.
It’s for the Northwestern alumni magazine (we both went there, not at nearly the same time). It’s going to be a short thing, and probably it’ll just be a profile for the readers who might not know who he is. My apologies if I’m boasting here; I only found out on Monday that this was a go and I’m pretty excited. I think I’ll probably ask my own questions. A lot of it will be pretty basic and I’m trying to learn about his life ahead of time.
I’ve heard of the Daily Show (it’s a show that’s on every day, right?), and know that it has something to do with politics, but I’ve never seen even a part of an episode of it, and have no clue what the general point of the show is, or the first clue what they usually talk about. Guess that’s what happens when one doesn’t have cable.
Some of them are. Remember the Cooter Fest story from last year? Rumor around town had it that the official being interviewed was a huge fan of The Daily Show and was determined to outjoke Ed Helms.
Actually, it’s only on 4 days a week (M-Th). The name of the show is a wee joke, there.
You know the Weekend Update segment of Saturday Night Live? The Daily Show is similar only much funnier, and they have guests like on the Tonight Show, sometimes important political figures, sometimes unimportant pop culture figures. They also do bits that are satirical of local news “human interest” stories.

How many people are willing to be interviewed by 60 Minutes?
You know that’s not going to go well.
Some people are in on it. Some people are idiots. And some people realize that it’s cool to play along.
My favorite is when that Navy Officer carried the reporter out a la An Officer and a Gentleman.
Not the Corncob Bob guy, but the ethanol representative looked completely NOT in on it a couple of nights ago. I love it.
I have to say, my most favorite person on Daily Show, was the FL guy running for office because he was angry about lesbians beating him in billiards. He hit on Samantha Bee. It was one of the most beautiful interviews, anywhere ever!
He obviously had never seen the show.
